December 08th, 2008 - PRIMAL FEAR STUDIO NEWS
After weeks of pre-production and preparation, PRIMAL FEAR entered the House Of Music studio on November 28 to begin recording their new album, 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead!) released in May 2009 via Frontiers Records. The band is in the process of laying down the following 14 tracks for the new CD (working titles; in no particular order):
01. Six Times Dead (16.6), 02. Smith & Wesson, 03. Soar, 04. Riding The Eagle, 05. Black Rain, 06. Lightning, 07. Time, 08. Night After Night, 09. Killbound, 10. Don't Fuck With My Life, 11. No Smoke Without Fire, 12. The Exorcist, 13. Torn, 14. Scream .... but be sure, some songtitles will be changed shortly, after Ralf has finished his vocal trakcs!
Drummer Randy Black already finished his drum recordings on Friday with producer Mat Sinner and engineer Dennis Ward. Guitarist Henny Wolter is busy working on his guitar parts, while Mat will start with his bass parts on Sunday. Guitarist Magnus Karlsson will join the crew on Thursday!
Commented Primal Fear frontman Ralf Scheepers: "It's very unusual for one band member to see and listen how the other band member is delivering the goods on his instrument. When we perform together live, you can also judge what's going on each instrument but not as clear and obvious as in the studio where you can concentrate on each tone or note or beat from your mates. From what I have heard so far, I can really say it's the best performance I have ever heard from Randy [Black] on the drums and also from Henny [Wolter] on the guitar. Of course, some people might think, 'What else should he say, he has to promote the new album and that's what every musician would say just to keep the ball running.' But these words are my true impression and I really can't wait for Magnus [Karlsson, guitar] and Mat [Sinner, bass] to nail their parts to see the whole building growing and growing."

November 25th, 2008 - Sinner Tour Done / Primal Fear Recording !
The Sinner/Ross The Boss tour is history with 10 great shows over Europe. Well, to be honest SINNER expected more fans in the venues, but in the end both bands did a great exciting shows show every night and all the fans in the clubs were fantastic. Mat is very proud of his Sinner guys, for a great experience and all the reviews will tell them some nice things .... SINNER thanks to their crew feat. Neil (Stagemanager), Kurtchen (Backline), Bigi (Tourmanager), Achim (Sound, formerly known as Bacardi), Michl (Merch), Ron (driver) - RTB = Ross, Patrick, Carsten & The German Hammer, Gun Barrel, plus all the true believers who travelled with them from show to show & Frank Suepfle & M&S Promotion! November 06th, 2008 - Latest NEWS!
The start of the SINNER tour is coming closer SINNER will meet on Sunday for the last preparations and drive together to Spain to play the first show in Barcelona on Tuesday!
Everything is prepared so far. Great crew, great guys on board and a nice setlist, based on a lot of new Crash & Burn songs and of course some classic tracks plus some surprises! SINNER is forward to rock again. They've added a special guest band to the tour - GUN BARREL will open the shows and be there when they start their set - cool band!
PRIMAL FEAR 16.6
They've cut the Primal Fear song list for the 16.6 recordings from 20 to 15 songs last weekend, as they played the final shows of the year. The Band thanks Hammerfall's Joacim for inviting them and the guys & promoters in Switzerland - cool show!
Back to the 16.6 songs .... it will be a heavy decision for PRIMAL FEAR which final 12 songs they will record for the new album! All Songs are so excited of the material, that they could record easily a double album! But anyway, they have to make their decision soon. PRIMAL FEAR will finally start tracking the drums, on November 26th @ The House Of Music studios near Stuttgart, with engineers Dennis Ward and Achim Koehler. They're already talking to the promoters in various territories about the next world tour and some very special events in 2009 in support of the 16.6. release!
MAT`S FINAL DAY – IN HIS OWN WORDS :
we've recorded some more vocals on the songs and the project is shaping up fantastic - wow, to be honest I'm really excited and I had the same kinda feeling as we started Primal Fear in'98. We're working on some more vocal lines these days and we will go back to finish the vocals all 3 singers in January incl. Nena's lines and our new guy Timo from Mindead. Later maestro Alex Scholpp has to record some crazy lead guitars and Martin has to finalize his drums, before we can mix the first five songs and present the soundtrack to the public!
VOODOO CIRCLE release dates are finalized now: Japan Nov. 22nd (King Records) - Germany Dec. 5th, RO Europe Dec. 7th (AFM Records) - expect some acivities from Voodoo Circle to be announced soon!
I'm working on a brandnew look for my Website and make it even more crazy and easier to communicate. I hope I can publish the brand new MatSinner.Com page in December! At the moment, I can highly reccomend the new HINDER album "Take It To The Limit" and I'm still listening a lot to the new Shinedown album. Just finished reading another killer book by my favorite Jean-Christophe Grange called "Flight of the Storks" and I will start reading Nick Hornby's "A Long Way Down" (thanks :-) - that's my update for today - enjoy your life!

Yes it's time for a big update, because too many things happened and will happen during the next months! Let's start with a sincere THANK YOU to everybody for giving the new SINNER album such a great feedback! Last week, we could finalize the last parts for the forthcoming VOODOO CIRCLE album, the new band put together by my good friend Alex Beyrodt, with PC69 singer David Readman, Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor and keyboarder Jimmy Kresic. AFM Records will release our debut album on December 04th and if you like classic rock in the Rainbow/Purple vibe, you have to check out this album - you can already listen to some soundfiles here - Voodoo Circle on My Space!

Primal Fear is busy with arranging and pre-producing the final songs for the forthcoming album - working title 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead!) - everybody is thrilled about the so far 16 songs, we really can't believe it! Our guitar dream team is all fired up and Magnus adds a new dimension to our songwriting. And even this time, we can promise another modification in the Primal Fear sound, a surprising album with some very new elements and a lot of real back to the roots Primal Fear metal! We will start to record at the end of November '08 until January '09 with the plan to release the album in late May 2009 on Frontiers Records and their partners! Watch out for some more updates on the songs, team & touring plans in the next couple of weeks!
If this is not enough, I can report about a very new project, we've started some days ago. I always want to start a project with my good friend and guitarist extraordinaire Alex Scholpp (Tarja, Farmer Boys, Dacia), but our both schedules were too busy during the last years and even now. But we've received an offer to write some music for the forthcoming apocalyptic movie MY FINAL DAY and this was our now or never wake-up call! Joining us are former Atrocity drummer Martin Schmidt and Nena Schock on vocals. We've recorded four songs so far and we're working with an additional singer now. The music is groovy, brutal, modern ..... something different and we have a great vibe in the band! Watch out for first photos and soundfiles from the MY FINAL DAY project soon!
More plans for 2009 ..... aside I'm working with some great artists on their new video clips (more new reg. this later), I have plans to work on a new edition of my book, released on Dec. 2006 as The Book Of Seven Seals, this time as an international version with a lot of updates and new stories under the working title SIX TIMES DEAD!
........ and last not least some music I'm listening at the moment - strange, but amazing songs are coming from Del Amitri 's singerJustin Curries first solo album What Is Love For. Then I can highly recommend the new Shinedown album - The Sound Of Madness .... till the next time!
September 23 rd 2008 - BACK FROM RUSSIA
After 10 years, PRIMAL FEAR finally made it to Russia b/w Moscow & St. Petersburg. They had a great time and could meet a lot of great fans! The Moscow concert was maybe one of the Top5 club shows in their history, an unbelievable loud & exciting audience and a wonderful moment of metal! PRIAL FEAR thanks everybody who helped to make this trip happen - M&S Promotion, Flaming Arts, Irond Records & most of all our fans! Keep the faith - the next shows in Russia will happen soon and they don't let you wait that long again! Promised!

II'm back home after some days of pre producing songs in Sweden for the next Primal Fear album! Great stuff - I'm really looking forward to record this new songs. Great metal with some real surprises! On Friday we will fly to Russia for the first time with Primal Fear. Really looking forward to these concerts and meet the fans! Btw SINNER will tour Europe in Novermber together with Ross The Boss as announced earlier. The final list of tourdates will be posted later this week! August 20th, 2008 - PRIMAL FEAR STARTS WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM !
Well, the time has come and PRIMAL FEAR starts officially with the writing sessions for their new album! They will be in Sweden @ Magnus studio in September to write a bunch of new tracks and do some pre production.They've collected already some ideas and it sound very promising. They will try to keep the great vibeof the live shows in the band.. Of course, they will try to surprise all of you again with a new direction
August 18th, 2008 - Back From A Weekend Of Metal!
The UKs Bloodstock Open Air and Germany's Summer Breeze are history and a successful weekend for PRIMAL FEAR - here's the German review from the Summer Breeze Page:
Nun folgte die geballte Power Metal-Attacke, und es wurde Zeit, denn der Sound war dieses Jahr nicht gar so präsent auf dem Breeze. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt also genau das richtige Futter für die dürstenden Fans. Das Quintett um Mat Sinner und Ralf Scheepers kam sah und siegte. Im Sog der unzähligen modernen und todesmetallischen Kombos war diese Power Metal-Einlage eine willkommene Abwechslung. Herr Scheepers bediente dabei alle gängigen Heavy Metal Klischees und formierte in schöner Regelmäßigkeit die Saitenfraktion zum kollektiven Posing um sich.Ein besonders bemerkenswerter Moment war die grandiose Powerballade „Fighting The Darkness" in die nahezu die versammelte Mannschaft vor der Bühne einstimmte und für massig Gänsehaut sorgte. Nicht minder spektakulär drückten Klassiker wie „Nuclear Fire" eine Soundwand der Extraklasse ins Volk. Zu "Mr. Drum himself" Randy Black gab es eigentlich nur eine Sache anzumerken: auch wenn sein Drumkit wie eine Festung anmutete, war es sagenhaft mit anzusehen, wie er dieses Equipmentmonster mit einem Lächeln und jeder Menge Spaß und Brillanz bediente! Das abschließende "Metal Is Forever" knüppelte dann aber noch mal ordentlich nach vorne und beendete das Set mit jeder Menge gute Laune.

August 17th, 2008 - BREAKOUT REVIEW
Der Name Mat Sinner steht schon immer für Qualität , egal ob Solo, mit Sinner oder mit Primal Fear, aber "Crash & Burn" ist etwas Besonderes! Das ist definitiv das beste Sinner Album seit den glorreichen 80er .... und ich würde sogar noch weitergehen und behaupten, dass dies die beste Scheibe ist, die Mat jemals gemacht hat! Eine Superproduktion, kein einziger Ausfall, sondern nur starke Songs oder wahlweise exzellente Hymnen. Im Studiobericht der aktuellen Breakout Ausgabe habe ich ja schon einiges über die Songs geschrieben, aber nach mehrmaligem Hören entwickeln sich plötzlich einige Stücke, die damals noch nicht bei mir zündeten, zu hochwertigen Krachern. Etwa "Connection", das ich zwar nicht schlecht fand, mehr aber auch nicht .... hey, das ist die beste Thin Lizzy Hommage die man sich vorstellen kann! Was für eine Verbeugung vor Phil Lynott, die auch gut zu "Thunder & Lightning" gepasst hätte! Und dezente Lizzy Verweise gibt es auch auf "Heart Of Darkness" und "Unbreakable" - einfach nur geil! Auch "Little Head" entwickelt sich zum richtigen Ohrwurm, ebenfalls mit Lizzy Feeling! Top-Melodien im typischen Sinner Stil sind Trumpf! "Break The Silence", "Revolution" und "Like A Rock" sind Hits wie seinerzeit "Germany Rocks" - "Until It Hurts" ist eine geile Halbballade und "Fist To Face" geht ab ohne Ende! Im traditionellen Metal Bereich ist "Crash & Burn" bis dato das Highlight des Jahres 2008 für mich, das eigentlich kaum noch zu toppen ist! Chris Glaub/Breakout 4/2008

July 24th, 2008 - Bad News For Our Fans In Belgium!
We've been just informed by the local promoter of the Acatraz Festival in Belgium, that they can't pay our fee @ the concert on Sunday in Deinze/Brielpoort. Sorry for our fans in Belgium, but this is a tough information 3 days prior to the show. Welcome to the music business!
We're looking forward to have a great time @ the Infernofest in Slowakia on Saturday with a 100% Primal Fear show! Here's the official announcemnt from Belgium:

We've played two nice festivals over the weekend in Trinec and Pilsen! Thanks to the great fans in Trinec and sorry for the unpro organisation there. On the next day @ the Basinfirefest, it was totally different. Great crew & promoter, good gear and we were blown away by the fans! You rock! In other news, the show in Martin/Slovakia will go ahead as planned and we will play in Slovakia!

To all fans in the Czech Republik who wanted to visit the festival in Kurim this Saturday: I am very sorry to tell you that I am very ill these days! Primal Fear can't do this gig. Everyone who knows me also knows that I am never bullshitting about this topic and you all know that I sing when ever I can even if its hard. But this time I can't even speak no more and the doctor said that I should shut my mouth for 10 days otherwise I will destroy my voice forever! As you all know, we had a short 9 days in a row tour which is usually no problem for me. But this time I sung the last 3 shows with a bad cold and I absolutely overstrained my vocal chords with that. Once again, I'm very sorry for the guys in the band and of course YOU!

PROLOPOWER will support Primal Fear on their Show in Reichenbach at the am 26 th of April. They will open this Event with one of their well known Comebackshows. Prolopower`s singer is for sure Ex-Primal Fear Drummer Klaus Sperling. The Claymore will be Opener at the Show at the Matrix in Bochum.

April 04 th, 2008 STATEMENT FROM THE BAND (ORIGINAL)
It’s amusing what a single guitar riff can initiate. Of course we recognized some similarities to our song “Evil Spell” when we heard the opening guitar riff of the new “Bullet For My Valentine” album “Scream Aim Fire”. We know the guys and we shared the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver for some weeks in the end of 2005.
What we think about this? We love metal and we’re adults. We like the music of “Bullet For My Valentine” and we have a lot of respect for their work. Cool songs, a fantastic production and great guys! If the guitar work in one song is very similar to a Primal Fear riff or song, we’re ok with it and not out for any trouble … and we don’t want to receive another 150 mails about this matter – we’re fine and it’s great if “Scream Aim Fire” has a little PF vibe!

Official Statement
Dear Primal Fear fans,
after 10 years being in Primal Fear I have decided to take a time out from the music business for some time. I do this for my family, especially for my two little sons, who deserve to have more time together with their father. Of course this is no easy decision, even if I know this is the right one. I leave the guys from Primal Fear in friendship and want to thank them at this point for their understanding and supporting me in this decision.I also want to thank you fans for a wonderful time during the last years! I say goodbye to you, having in mind, that this will NOT be a goodbye forever!

Well, it is hard to see how the curtain falls for a friend and a great musician after 10 years side by side. We have all the respect for Stefan`s decision. We have noticed the problems throughout the last years. We will miss him as a person, and great guitar player. There is an open door for Stefan in Primal Fear. We are working on the possibility of a new Song in Stefan`s Style for the next album. We wish himand his Family good luck.
Tommorrow the Band will announce the new Guitar Player.
Attention - Stefan Leibing and Klaus Sperling will be at the "10 Year Anniversary Concert" in Reichenbach in the "H20" to be present with the band on stage to play a few special songs. This is a very emotional moment and unique!
As the new guitarist the Band announced today on 04.03.08 Magnus Karlsson (known by Allen /Lande, Starbreaker, The Codex)

Febuary 01st, 2008 - SWEDEN ROCK FRSTIVAL AND MORE DATES ANOUNCED
Have a look into the Tourdate section, this year PRIMAL FEAR will play the “Sweden Rock Festival” and other Festivals here in Europe. The new Album “NEW RELIGION” is released now in the US. Seems to be a very successful one for PRIMAL FEAR.

This year it will be the third Rock for one World Festival in Esslingen (Komma Club). SINNER will play this Event and Mat announced some very great surprises.
